Trail Camera Video Montage – “Best Of”
Enjoy this montage of photos and video clips captured with standard trail cameras as well as “homebrew” DSLR camera traps. In it are some of my favorites from late 2015 through 2018. I compiled this on New Years day, 2019, as a “best of” montage but until now I hadn’t shared it in this blog. Bears, cats, weasels, raccoons, coatis, opossums, several hoofed mammals, canids, and a smorgasbord of rodents are represented. What is your favorite photo or video clip in this compilation, and why? I’d love to hear from you in a comment below.
Some of the photos and videos in the montage have been the subject of other posts. Search the Post Index to find them. Purchase Camera Trapping Guide here.
It’s impossible for me to pick one single favorite, there are too many good ones. Here in the order they were posted are the ones I liked the best:
*The scratching bear — bear behavior is often humorous.
*The bobcat kittens tussling because they were in an open spot and you got a good video.
*The marten because we don’t have them here.
*The flying squirrel with the nut — it’s a great action photo of one of my favorite mammals.
Thanks, Woody, you pretty much picked out my own favorites! Probably the bobcats playing is my #1 but I only wish I had been using a camera with better quality video back then!
Those are fantastic, Janet! The fawn was my favorite. Thanks for posting.
Thank you, David!
I literally laughed out loud when I saw that vole stealing the lettuce. This is such a great compilation!
It is amusing to see such a tiny rodent racing off with the leaves. I was astonished to see that it cleared out those lettuce transplants in just a couple of days!
Your enthusiasm for trail cameras is evident and pays off. Thanks for all your efforts in creating these and sharing them. Love the bobcats.
Thanks, Charlie!
What a fantastic collection! I enjoyed them all! My favorite is the clip of the coyote pack walking into the sunset.
Thanks, Linda! They were beautiful animals caught on a beautiful day in one of their rendezvous sites.
Wrestling bobcats because it was an extended view of a behavior we are familiar with from watching are pets.
Also the coyote video as I know how different it is to capture them during daytime.
Hi Lloyd, the bobcats playing was really interesting because the mother took her kittens to play in that exact spot – right on that bed of lichen – for 3 years in a row. So not only was the play much like pet cat play, but also the attraction to soft pads. A cat is a cat is a cat!
I Love all of the videos of Beautiful Wildlife :). Thank You for Sharing with me 🙂
Glad you enjoy them, Marilyn!
