Elk Tracks and Sign — 7 Comments

    • I’m glad you found it useful, Marilyn. It was fun for me to reminisce about time spent elk tracking and camera trapping, so I enjoyed writing this one.

  1. We have a vacation home on a golf course in Rapid City and see a lot of wild life. Especially deer. 2 nights ago I spotted a lone animal that seemed much larger than a deer walking south by our house. No antlers. It left very large tracks that Iā€™m wondering if it might have been an elk

    • I live in Rapid City coincidentally right near 2 golf courses and we have a lot of large mule deer in the area but elk don’t really wonder into town often. There are definitely a lot of elk in the Black Hills though (I was out elk hunting last weekend and we stumbled on a herd of 10).
