From the Nature Conservancy’s blog Cool Green Science
“What I really love about the book is its emphasis on reading sign, and understanding wildlife habits as essential components of camera trapping…The depth of information here on signs and habits would be useful for any wildlife watcher, even if you have no interest in trail cameras. I loved the photographic support: otter scent mounds, fox caches, porcupine dens and hickory nuts chewed by flying squirrels. The photos of tracks and scat are among the clearest and most helpful I’ve seen.”

“….gives you the tips to achieve David Attenborough-like imagery with your camera…It is the camera trapping tips at the end of each species account that are the jewels of this book. These tips, based on Pesaturo’s personal field experiences, reinforce the idea that good shots come when you pay attention to the seasonal variations in animals’s lives, where their food resources are, and what their breeding behavior entails.”

She lays out how to find opossums in urban and suburban versus rural areas, for example. She also describes beaver dams and likely crosswalks for everything from coyotes to black bears.”
